Beauty In A Barbell: Vaginal Steaming 101

“Healing is an art. It takes time. It takes practice. It takes love.”

For the last four years, I’ve been on this incredibly difficult, but beautiful and rewarding journey of healing. Healing my subconscious mind, spirit, body and my Womb.  At age 4, I was molested and I endured that abuse for 7 years and it destroyed me. When I got my period at 11, I used to bleed for weeks. My period was so heavy and so irregular that I was put on birth control at age 11. I struggled with my period, fertility issues and other womb issues for years. Now that I understand that the body speaks the mind, I know that these heavy periods were a manifestation of the pain of the sexual trauma inflicted on my womb. To make a very, very long story short, I am becoming daily. Becoming healthy, healed and whole. One of the self-healing practices I engage in is vaginal steaming. In this article I will explain what vaginal steaming is, the benefits of vaginal steaming, how to vaginal steam and lastly how I can help you begin your journey of becoming.

What is Vaginal Steaming?

Vaginal steaming is a self-healing and self-empowering practice that is part of our history and heritage as African women. Vaginal Steaming uses the elements of the earth; water, steam, herbs and fire to heal, nourish, and cleanse the womb. Vaginal steaming is 100% natural and safe.

How Does Vaginal Steaming Work?

You take your Beauty In A Barbell Mended Womb herbs and add them to water and boil them in a pot or crock pot. (You never want to use plastic). To activate the herbs, allow them to simmer for 10-15 minutes. Next you will place your pot or crockpot underneath a centered hole, vaginal steaming chair, or portable commode. Test the temperature of the steam with your forearm. Remove your clothing from the waist down. Cover the lower part of your body with a blanket or something similar. Ensure that it covers your entire lower body, down to the floor so the steam is contained. Sit in a position that is comfortable for you and allows the steam to travel to the vaginal canal and rectum. Be careful not to burn yourself.

The herbs that are used in the Mended Womb Steam are specifically used for womb wellness and healing. They are disinfecting, deodorizing and cleansing herbs

Am I a candidate for Vaginal Steaming

Not every woman is a candidate for vaginal steaming as there are contraindications. For example, if your tubes are tied, you should not steam because steaming may cause you to become pregnant. If you are trying to conceive, you should only steam before ovulation and not after, as steaming may cause a miscarriage. And a woman who is pregnant should never steam.  I screen every woman before selling the Mended Womb herbs to ensure that she is a candidate for vaginal steaming. Detailed instructions are also provided to ensure that she steams at the proper time during her cycle to reap the most benefits from steaming.
