How To Be A M.I.L.F-Part 3 Do what you can, when you can, for how long you can.

The third thing needed to be a mother in love with fitness is to do what you can, when you can, for how long you can, everyday. It doesn’t matter if it’s just 10 minutes of cardio or 5 push-ups. My mantra is the proverbial “Just Do It”. Now that school has started again, my day will begin at 5am and will not end until 8:30pm. My days are packed and it is hard to find the time to commit to hour long workouts. It’s sometimes hard to even get a 30 minute workout in. But I do not use that as an excuse to not do something. I can do 10 minutes with my jump rope. I can squat in the restroom at work.  I can take the stairs instead of the elevator, I can park my car in the furthest spot and walk. I can go for a power walk on my two 15 minute breaks. I just do what I can when I can for how long I can. Every little bit counts. I can do a set of lunges or dumbbell shoulder presses while I’m cooking breakfast and making lunches for the day. There’s a number of things to do to be active throughout the day if you can’t make it to the gym. 

To believe that even the smallest of efforts are in vain couldn’t be farther from the truth. Often we feel we must do something big to make a difference in our lives, that some grand gesture, 5-6 days in the gym for at least an hour is what we need. Rivers change the landscape over time through erosion. They slowly wear away at rocks to make a path for themselves. It is not a big gush or flow that causes this to happen, but steady consistent movements that can take years, but eventually it makes its way to its final destination. It never stops, it just keep pushing. Our commitment must be like a river; steady and sure, confident that if we keep pushing, no matter how small the movements we will wear away at the rocks and debris of our life and reach our fit destination. That’s what a MILF does. She doesn’t stop, she doesn’t quit. She doesn’t get discouraged when she doesn’t have the time or energy to commit to hour long workouts 5 days a week. She does what she can, when she can, for however long she can. A MILF is a warrior 💪🏾
